Senior Pastor
Biography
Pastor Bruce, a native of Virginia, is Senior Pastor of Laurel Hill Baptist Church in Charlottesville, Virginia. He earned his Associate of Arts degree in Computer Science in Lynchburg, Virginia in 1987. In 1992 he received his Bachelor of Science degree from Liberty University after returning to school upon answering the call to ministry. In 1999 he graduated with a Masters of Arts in Religion degree with a concentration in pastoral counseling from Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary in Lynchburg, Virginia.
The emphasis of Pastor Bruce’s ministry is the expository preaching and teaching of God’s Word. His desire is to proclaim the teaching of God’s truth in order to transform lives. Pastor Bruce believes that it is the role of the church, corporately and individually, to make disciples by leading them to salvation through Jesus Christ and to equip them for the work of the ministry. His greatest desire is to help build the Kingdom of God, to magnify our Lord and minister to each other, bring people into God’s Kingdom through missions in the community and the world for membership in Christ’s body, while growing in maturity.”
Pastor Bruce shares the ministry with his wife, Debbie, and their four children, Nathan, Anna, Christian and Jordan.
Steve Layne
Minister to Students
Biography
Pastor Steve, a native born son of Virginia, is the Minister to Students at Laurel Hill Baptist Church. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Liberty University in 2002.
Pastor Steve’s call to ministry is specifically in the area of the Youth Group. He has served in two other churches as a volunteer Youth Leader, before answering the call to become a Minister to Students. The desire of his heart is two-fold: to see young people come to know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, and to equip them to do the work of the ministry.
Pastor Steve shares this ministry with his wife Michelle, and their five children: Ashmon, Meyhonia, Camden, Jack, and Riley.
