Beginning on January 6th, we are starting our Daniel Fast. If you remember, Danial was in captivity in Babylon under King Nebuchadnezzar. The King had allowed some to go back and begin working on the temple in Jerusalem, that had been destroyed. But Daniel got word that it was not going well. So he began a twenty-one day fast. And He was very specific in his fast. Daniel 10:2-3 (NASB) “2 In those days, I, Daniel, had been mourning for three entire weeks. 3 I did not eat any tasty food, nor did meat or wine enter my mouth, nor did I use any ointment at all until the entire three weeks were completed.”
So, the Daniel Fast is a fast from these kinds of foods and/or certain liquids or maybe some other item, for the purpose of calling on God to act on certain things or events or situations or various circumstances that you are dealing with or the church is dealing with. You may want to fast over relationships that are troubling you and something you want or need God to restore or some financial matter that in which you need God’s involvement.
As a church, I would like to ask you to fast for God to open hearts to hear the Gospel, for people to repent and surrender themselves to Him. And that He would give us people to be a part of the church to help the ministry be fruitful in all ways. That people would be baptized and follow Christ fully.
So, you do as the Lord leads you, but please be a part of this time as we look to God to move in our personal lives and our church.
