Roylene Shaffer
Youth Group Director
Hi, I’m Roylene Shaffer, the Youth Group Director here at Laurel Hill Baptist Church. I’m originally from Guyana, South America, and now happily live in Madison County with my husband, David, a retired Army veteran, and our three daughters, ages 16, 12, and 10. As a homeschooling mom, I’m passionate about nurturing young hearts and minds both at home and in the community. I also serve as the support representative for Classical Conversations, a Christian homeschooling program, and as a director for one of our local communities.
My faith journey began in the Catholic Church, but as a child, I always felt like something was missing in my relationship with God. At age 12, I attended an event that transformed my understanding of who God is. It was there I learned that He desires a personal relationship with each of us, and soon after, I was baptized. Since then, my life has been a testament to God’s grace, as He has carried me through life’s toughest moments. My passion is to share His love and truth, especially with our youth, who are often the most vulnerable.
My vision for our youth group is to help young people not only know God as their Creator and Savior but also grow confident in their faith. I want to equip them to give a reason for their belief at any time and to defend it with grace, humility, and love when the need arises.
In my free time, I love music in all its forms, singing, and participating in group activities. My favorite Bible passage is the Sermon on the Mount, which continues to inspire and guide me in my daily walk with Christ.
